Accountabilities
- Deliver excellent levels of customer engagement and service at all times, to the agreed RHS Retail service standard, ensuring we share our passion for plants, gifts and gardening with every customer.
- Ability to deal with complex customer queries
- Achieve our retail income budgets through customer engagement, offering advice and upselling to all customers. Implements ideas to improve sales with proven financial results
- Deputises for Line Manager when required and takes on supervisory role
- Demonstrates full product knowledge of own department and working knowledge of other departments within Retail
- In depth knowledge of the impact of seasons on sales and reacts to seasonal changes with speed and initiative
- Fully understands the concept and delivery of inspiring display and merchandising and the direct impact on sales, has the ability to create displays that are innovative and trend recognised.
- Demonstrates ownership of a project or area of the retail environment, delivering agreed outcomes
- Deliver a memorable and efficient till transaction, which will include an upsell, conversation with the customer and a genuine farewell.
- Decreasing requirement of guidance on tasks and proactively manages their own time (i.e. does not wait to be told what to do)
- To assist in all retail operational areas within the plant space which includes key holding responsibilities.
- Uses past experience to find better ways of working and develop themselves and their team, which will support and promote teamwork.
- Responsibility for ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of staff and volunteers; and that the activities for which they are responsible do not expose anyone to risks to their health or safety.Specific areas of responsibility include: ensuring staff and volunteers are adequately supervised, trained and provided with adequate instruction and information to carry out their work safely; ensuring that RHS procedures are followed and risk assessments are carried out; and procedures are in place to deal with emergencies.
- Fully competent and can train Health & Safety procedures, whilst adhering to current Health and Safety legislation and best practice in accordance with the Society’s Health and Safety Policy Statement.
